Eccleshall FC 1 Cheadle Heath Nomads 4

After their opening day win at Maine Road, Eccleshall suffered a heavy home defeat to Cheadle Heath Nomads, who were promoted from the Cheshire League last season.
In the only change to the starting line up, manager Nick Farrington brought Jake Standbridge in for Bradley Carr, whilst Tom Wakefield was named as a substitute.
Cheadle Heath went in front on the tenth minute, a long ball splitting the home defence found Butler who fired passed Quinn in the home goal. The visitors almost doubled the lead immediately, the ball given away cheaply on the edge of the area only resulting in a shot off target.
Eccleshall worked their way back into the game, making several chances, Finney fired wide from a Bennion corner and Needham, picked out by Downs was unable to trouble the keeper.
Last season’s top scorer Louis Downs was again involved in the action, missing the target after good work by Ahmadi and Needham, then after being sent clear by Feeney he couldn’t go around the keeper.
On the half hour, Eccleshall almost found the equaliser, Needham exchanged passes with Ahmadi, but again the Nomads keeper was up to the task.
Five minutes before the break, Cheadle Heath doubled their lead, a ball into the box led to Quinn making the initial save, but when the ball came to Yuille, he beat Quinn from just outside of the area.

On the hour Quinn was unable to hold onto a long ball into area and when it was crossed in, Butler headed into the empty goal for his second goal of the game.
Cheadle ensured the points were safe with twenty minutes to go, a strike from distance beating Quinn.
Downs did pull a goal back for Eccleshall, finishing neatly after good play from Needham and Standbridge.
The game finished on a sour note, Cheadle Heath having two players sent off for violent conduct in separate instances.
