League Leaders Take The Points

Saturday 3rd November 2018
Hallmark Security NWCFL Division One South
Eccleshall made it eight leagues games without a win as league leaders Rylands left Pershall Park with all three points.
Liam Baker-Haynes replaced the injured Lewis Dunn at left back, Connor Gittins came in for the unavailable Izaac Walsh in centre midfield whilst Jordan Bennion and Ben Fraser completed the last of their three game bans.
Eccleshall made the worst possible start, conceding the first goal within three minutes, a ball in from the right was cleared to the edge of the box to Liam Moran who beat Owen Wyatt with the aid of a deflection.
On the twenty- minute mark Louis Downs should have levelled the game but couldn’t find the target, to add to his frustration Downs did further damage to the ankle that had kept him out for several weeks and had to be replaced by James Lewis.
Eight minutes before the break, the visitors doubled their lead, a free kick given away by Lewis was played into the back post and headed past Wyatt by Gary Kenny.
Ryland’s third goal came three minutes before half time and virtually sealed the points, Jaimie White’s effort going in via the up right.
Either side of that third goal Eccleshall had chances to get back into the game, Luke Walsh and Tom Wakefield had shots blocked, the later having another effort off target.

Within the first five minutes of the restart Eccleshall had further chances to get back into the game, first Luke Walsh who had been fouled on the edge of the box, could only hit the wall with his free kick, Lewis couldn’t find the target with another attempt and Wakefield had a shot blocked.
On the hour Walsh did well on the left, crossing for Lewis, but the young forward couldn’t get the ball out of his feet and the chance had gone, it was just going to be one of them days for Eccleshall.
Rylands had further chances, Wyatt making two good saves and at the other end Harvey Collins couldn’t get enough power into a diving header after Wakefield had flicked on Callum Feeney’s cross.
Although its another game without any points, there was enough in the Eccleshall performance to suggest that results will come and the fact that Farrington started with six teenagers, with another two coming off the bench shouldn’t be overlooked.
