Eccy End Poor Run Of Form With Emphatic Victory Over Oswestry Town

Eccleshall picked up a huge three points when they hosted Oswestry Town. The previous meeting between the sides ended in a 4-0 revers, but Eccleshall made amends with a vintage performance.

The game started with a competitive edge but neither side managed to break the other down, keeping chances at a premium.

Eccy goalkeeper Matt Johnson was forced into a great save on 33 minutes after Gary Meredith latched onto a long ball forward. His volley looked destined for the net but for a great stop from Johnson.

Three minutes later Eccy took the lead. Callum Feeney give the ball to Danny Needham on the left. He played a great cross for Serkari Ahmadi to head home on his debut.

Ahmadi had another chance on 40 minutes. He got in behind the defence but Louis Mackin in the Oswestry goal made himself big and kept the score at one.

The game opened up after half time with the visitors looking for a leveller. They had a few chances but Eccy's defence held firm.

Eccy put the game beyond doubt in the 77th minute when Tom Wakefield finished off a fine counter attack involving Louis Downs and Needham.

Eccy added insult to injury in the 86th minute when they got their third. Ahmadi played in Downs and he rounded the 'keeper and tapped it in.

Eccy will now look to build on this when they host Cammell Laird next saturday at Pershall Park.
