Eccleshall Out Of Macron Cup

Eccleshall bowed out of the macron Cup at the 2nd round stage as two first half goals by Premier league side West Didsbury and Chorlton proved decisive.
Jordan Bennion, back after a three- game ban came back into the starting eleven as did the fit again Lewis Dunn and Billy Johnson, whilst newcomer Josh Davies started from the bench.
Eccleshall started on the front foot, with Tom Wakefield having a shot blocked and Bennion firing Harvey Collins’ cross over the bar within the first couple of minutes.
The visitors came back into the game and created several chances before taking the lead in the fourteenth minute, a ball in from the right being steered towards the back post for Pearson to open the scoring.
Just before the half hour West Didsbury and Chorlton doubled their lead, Brad Carr lost possession and then a mix up between Billy Johnson and Lewis Dunn allowed Woods to go through on goal and place the ball past Owen Wyatt.
Ten minutes before the break, Eccleshall were back in the game, Bennion started the move that saw Carr and Dunn exchange passes before Carr fired home from just inside the box.
Within two minutes, Eccleshall were almost level, Bennion’s free kick came back off the goalkeeper, but Johnson, under pressure couldn’t find the target.

For the second half Louis Downs replaced the injured Luke Walsh and from the restart the visitors almost increased their lead, but Owen Wyatt’s finger tip save was enough to keep Eccleshall in the game.
On the hour Izaac Walsh replaced Bennion as Eccleshall tried to get into a game that West Didsbury and Chorlton were dominating in terms of possession.
In the final minutes Tom Wakefield had a shot saved and Tommy Van Der Laan fired Eccleshall’s final chance over the bar.

Next Saturday its back to the league action with a trip to New Mills.
