Eagles invited to enter charity cup competition

Eccleshall have been invited to enter this season's Commander Ethelston Charity Cup competition.

The competition raises money for local charities and the format will be quarter finals, semi finals and the final. Quarter final matches will be played before the end of October 2019 and the semi finals will be held between February and early April 2020. Quarter final matches will be held at the home of the club drawn 'first out of the hat' whilst the semi finals and the final will be held at Yockings Park, home of NWCFL Premier Division Whitchurch Alport.

The cup was originally presented to the Whitchurch & District Amateur Football League in 1909 by Edmund Ethelston in memory of his brother, Commander Alfred Peel Ethelston RN of HMS Powerful, who fell whilst leading the right wing of the naval brigade at Graspan, South Africa, on 25. November 1899.

The club is pleased to have received the invitation to take part and to have the opportunity to compete for an impressive trophy with considerable history.

Details of the draw will be posted when they are to hand.
