Eagles go down to the league leaders
Match Report by Daniel Holes
With most matches in the First Division South having been called off as a result of the arctic conditions, Eccleshall might have wished their fixture had also been after slumping to a dismal 3-0 defeat away to Rylands FC.
Three well constructed first half strikes from the home side were enough to see them cruise past a toothless looking Eagles side who offered very little offensively.
With multiple pitch inspections having taken place before the match by referee Daniel Parkes, it was clear from the kick off Rylands were the more comfortable of the two on the wintry surface. Rylands used that home pitch advantage early on and took the lead when Andrew Scarisbrick's left footed strike from inside the box nestled in the top corner.
The home side's confidence grew as a result and they doubled their lead inside thirty six minutes when Warren Gerrard's deep cross to the back post found left back Thomas Freeman who volleyed home.
Rylands' first half dominance continued and they made Eccleshall pay for some lacklustre defending as Freeman's cross was parried by Eagles 'keeper Louis McCarthy straight into the path of the incoming Stuart Wellstead who finished from two yards out to all but seal the three points for the home side.

The second half saw much of the same as the Warrington side continued to dominate, having far more of the ball and numerous clear cut chances to extend their lead.
Eccleshall created very little in the way of goal scoring opportunities with half chances such as Luke Walsh's effort being nullified by an organised Rylands side.
Rylands substitute Jamie White had two glorious opportunities late on to pile further misery on Eccleshall but, on both occasions, was unable to keep his efforts down.
Having played 28 times now this season, the Eagles will be hoping that they can ignite some form for their next game against Cammell Laird 1907 and not get left out in the cold at the bottom end of the division.
