ECCLESHALL FC REMEMBERS THE FALLEN

ECCLESHALL FC REMEMBERS THE FALLEN

Poppy wreath tribute before yesterday's match

Prior to Remembrance Sunday, Eccleshall held a minute's silence at yesterday's league match against Ashville at the Stoke Signage Stadium to remember the fallen.

The club had had a poppy wreath prepared and before the kick off, Eagles striker Jamie Turner, a serving Sergeant in the Army, formally marched the wreath to the centre circle before placing it on the centre spot. With both teams around the centre circle, match referee Christopher Hooper blew his whistle to begin the minute's silence which was impeccably observed by everyone in the ground.

Following the game, the wreath was to be taken to this morning's Remembrance Sunday service on behalf of the club and placed at the Memorial in the grounds of Holy Trinity Church with the many others laid down.

"We will remember them".
