Rallying call for Eccleshall locals to come to the Stoke Signage Stadium

Remember back in 2005 when Delia Smith at Norwich City came on to the Carrow Road pitch and said this to rally the home fans during a game?

Our own manager, Liam Kelly, is now looking to a similar type of rallying call to encourage more local supporters from the Eccleshall area to come to the Stoke Signage Stadium to support The Eagles as they try to push for promotion.

Eccleshall's great start to the 2025/26 season in the North West Counties League First Division South has seen them build on their play-off placing last time around with the team currently lying in second place in the league table, six points clear of third place. It's their best start for a good number of years. Not only are the team picking up good results with only two defeats in sixteen games, they are also playing attractive football - a point noted by Barnton joint manager, Lewis Wood, on social media after Eagles consolidated their second place in the table with a 3-0 away victory at their Creative Hut Stadium last Saturday. He commented: "Not our day today! But for me the best team in the league and they shown that today!"

Saturday's match saw Eagles go 2-0 up within five minutes with goals from Nicky Parker and Danny Glover and he added a second later in the game. The squad was strengthened this season and the results are now showing the benefits of that preparation.

It is with this in mind that Kelly is now looking to attract more local support through the gates, especially as he is looking to continue this run of form with two home matches on the spin against Haughmond on Saturday and then high flying Stockport Georgians a week later. Eagles' real test will come after that when they face current league leaders Runcorn Town (away) on 13. December.

Kelly said: "It would be great to have as many local supporters as possible at the next couple of home games. I set the lads the task to go unbeaten at home this season and, so far, they have achieved this. I want the Stoke Signage Stadium to be a fortress for us this season so that teams will not look forward to coming here. If we can continue along these lines and pick up points away, we should be up there challenging, come April"

Kick off for Saturday's match is 3.00pm. Come and support your local team!

"Let's be having you" - a British / English phrase used to encourage someone to hurry up or to come to a particular place. After Delia's call, it became an iconic moment in English football (Google).
