In what was a spectacular month for Eccleshall in the North West Counties League, the club received two of the three monthly awards for their performances in November. News was released on Wednesday morning that our team was Divisional Club of the Month following a run of five wins. This was described by the following on the League Website: "The Eagles have been in great form this season and November was simply perfect, with five wins coming from the five games that they played"
It got better later in the day when the announcement came that Adam Whitehouse (pictured) was Divisional Goalkeeper of the Month. The League Website said: "Five games played for Adam last month, with three clean sheets and just three goals conceded".
If you have not read full details of the awards announcements, it is worth looking at the North West Counties League Website - www.nwcfl.com - and picking up on the 'Latest News' section. It gives a detailed summary of our awards.
Whilst these are the first League awards our club have won this season, it is interesting to note that back in February of this year we also picked up the same two awards. On that occasion, it was goalkeeper George Scott receiving the sponsored pair of goalkeeper's gloves.
Whilst we are waiting on League confirmation, it is likely that both the club and Adam will be presented with the awards at our first home match of the New Year against Shawbury United on Saturday 3. January.
With our first match of December against Stockport Georgians being called off last Saturday due to a waterlogged pitch, we are hoping that this decent run of form can continue tomorrow when the Eagles travel to league leaders Runcorn Town. With first facing second, this game is undoubtedly the First Division South 'match of the day'. Having drawn with Runcorn at the Stoke Signage Stadium back in September, Eagles will be hoping to go one better this time around. The League Website, in doing a preview of the weekend's matches, stated the following: "Runcorn Town won their second game on the spin last time out , but face perhaps their toughest test yet this weekend - second placed Eccleshall. If the visitors win, the gap between the two sides is narrowed to just three points, and the title race is blown wide open".
All eyes will be on the result from the Viridor Community Stadium at 5.00pm tomorrow.
Come on you Eagles!
