Our youngest side, Eccleshall U11s, who play in the Midlands Junior Premier League, took their squad of 13 players plus parents and grandparents totalling a travelling party of 43 to Germany to play in the Easter Munich Tournament organised by Ballefunde.
Whilst the football was the main event, the travelling party also took on the sights of Munich including an Allianz Arena Tour, discovering the beautiful city of Munich whilst engaging with the locals - teaching them all about Eccleshall with a street performer even making an Eccleshall song!
Playing the tournament over the Easter weekend the young Eccleshall lads won all three games on the Saturday scoring 31 goals and conceding only ONE goal. We later returned on the Sunday where we went on to win the first game 4-1 and second game 9-1 to book a place in the semi finals. In the semi-finals we met FC Annivers from Switzerland and the boys played absolute ultimate football to win the game a thrashing 14-1. On to the final where we met Italia Munchen, a team that were unbeaten all season in their league and who beat Bayern Munich Academy a couple of weeks before. To secure the trophy Eccleshall performed a commanding 3-0 victory to bring the trophy home. A great experience for the young players who are a talented bunch with a great future ahead.
This trip showed the real togetherness of the players and also the parents, grandparents and siblings. This was a trip that showed real Eccy spirit!
The squad that joined us on this incredible victory were;
Ted Illidge
Natan Szczesny
Seb Steele
Miller McQueen
Arthur Knapper
Eli Richens
Franek Rybacki
Bobby Moorhouse
Jacob Egan
Finn Lacey
Clayton Morris
Freddie Chell
Braxton Maguire
A week to remember for our young lads, management and parents. Something that will go in the history books for Eccleshall.
