Jim Tunney10 Jun - 11:21

Eagles Under 10s team win two tournaments in a week!

Our Under 10s team have had a busy couple of weeks in the close season, taking part in the Stone Old Alleynians tournament on 1. June and following this up with the Market Drayton Tigers tournament on 8. June. The Stone OA tournament was a 5v5 format and the young Eagles remained unbeaten al the way to the final where they beat a City of Stoke team to become champions.

The Market Drayton tournament was a 7v7 format and the young Eagles started with a 1-1 draw. However, this would be they only goal that they would concede on the day! The team remained undefeated in the group stages, winning four and drawing one game whilst racking up 17 goals. They progressed to the semi-finals, finishing top of the group. In the semis, they met a Market Drayton Tigers team and progressed to the final with a 4-0 victory. Facing a strong PLL Academy team in the final, who were also unbeaten to this point in the competition, they navigated the challenge well and came out on top with a 1-0 victory to bring the champions cup home.

Manager Dan Chell said: "It was the manner in how the team played which was the most pleasing part of the day. We had some excellent team play and goals which came from every player being involved in the build-up. We are really proud of our Under 10s as they continue to be a high-level team in this age range".

The Under 10s will be moving up to Under 11s in the coming season, transitioning from 7v7 to 9v9. Playing Saturday football in the Midlands Junior Premier League , they also play on Sundays in the North Staffordshire Junior Youth League.

Dan continued: "We are looking to add a couple of players to our Sunday side, so if your child wants to test themselves at a high level of junior football, please get in touch with me".
