With Louis McCarthy unavailable, Eccleshall fielded new signing Matt Johnson in goal and Jack Dundas and George Burslem given starts.
Breck full back Liam Morris had the first effort of the game which was deflected for a corner from which Johnson had to make a couple of saves. Tom Wakefield then tested Breck keeper Joshua Liversedge with a decent header. A Johnson clearance then went the full length of the pitch before bouncing over Liversedge and the bar. A cross by Morris found Luke Duffy and his header hit the angle of bar and post before bouncing clear. Moments later, a Thomas Kinsella effort was tipped around the post by the diving Johnson. On 30 minutes, Breck took the lead when a low cross was palmed out by Johnson and Duffy had the easy task of tapping the ball home. Eagles came back and a long ball found Harvey Collins, whose low cross was caught on the volley by Burslem but Liversedge dived to save. Towards the end of the half, a free kick by Shay Finney from outside the box hit the post with the Breck keeper beaten but the ball bounced out of play. Before half time, Breck netted again but the effort was flagged offside. The 3G pitch had caused some ball control problems in the first half but Eagles were still in the game at the interval.

With Ollie Dunne carrying a knock , Miles Johnson replaced him for the start of the second half. The impressive Duffy had a shot from outside the box which beat Matt Johnson but hit the post and bounced clear. On 58 minutes, Breck went two up when Mitchell Culshaw ran through and slotted home under the advancing Johnson. Luke Lewis came on for Dundas before Breck went three up. An Eagles attack was broken up and they went straight down the pitch before sub Connor Roberts hit a rising shot into the top corner which gave Johnson no chance. Within a couple of minutes, another Breck effort hit the bar and James Colbeck headed over when it seemed easier to score. Burslem looked to find Lewis running through but Liversedge came out to collect. Duffy netted again on 77 minutes when he created a chance for himself and curled a shot beyond Johnson into the corner of the net. Burslem then fired over the bar in response. A corner by Finney found Lewis and he almost caught out the Breck keeper at the near post. With four minutes to go, it was 5-0 when another Breck attack led to Morris finding the corner of the net past the diving Johnson. A great ball by Lewis found Wakefield but his effort was just wide of the post. Right on full time, Duffy completed his hat trick with a rising shot from outside the box which gave Johnson no chance as it found the top corner.
Eccleshall will be disappointed by the second half performance which left them well beaten but will have the chance to put things right on Wednesday evening when they return to league action away at Cheadle Town.
